Leadership Luncheon

For 16 years, the PTA has hosted as its first event of the year,
a Sports Luncheon in San Francisco. It has featured a nationally recognized sports personality, athlete or newscaster. This is also the event at which PTA members can purchase tickets to San Francisco Giants home games.

This year, we have transformed the event into a Leadership Luncheon, and our inaugural speaker on March 23 was the Honorable Willie Brown, Jr. He is two-term Mayor of San Francisco, legendary Speaker of the California Assembly, and widely regarded as one of the most influential African-American politicians in the last 50 years.
He spoke to a sold-out PTA audience on the topic: “Using the Art of Politics and Persuasion to Manage a Global City and Create a World-Class Waterfront.”
Brown has been at the center of California politics, civic life, and the development of San Francisco as a global city with a world-class waterfront. Today he heads the Willie L. Brown, Jr. Institute on Politics and Public Service, where he shares his knowledge and skills with a new generation of California leaders.

    Previous speakers have included:
    • Jack Bair, senior vice president of the San Francisco Giants
    • Ric Bucher, former ESPN Commentator, host at 95.7 FM The Game, and columnist for the Bleacher Report
    • John Abendroth, former PGA player and founder of Hooked on Golf

The PTA thanks the following organizations for their sponsorships at this year’s luncheon:
